Abstract

The Education Management Information System (EMIS) is an essential system for managing educational data in madrasahs, including Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Kifayah Riau, where transparency and accountability are crucial for improving the quality of Islamic school management. This study aims to analyze the role of EMIS in enhancing transparency and accountability, as well as to identify the challenges in its implementation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with administrative staff and direct observations of system use. Data were analyzed using thematic techniques to categorize themes of transparency, accountability, and challenges. The findings show that EMIS enhances transparency through real-time data updates that facilitate information monitoring and improves accountability through automated reporting that helps reduce input errors. EMIS also streamlines administrative processes such as data recapitulation and routine reporting. However, challenges arise from limited operator training, unstable internet access, and insufficient technological facilities, indicating the need for capacity building and infrastructure improvement.
