This study aims to assess the reading ability of Quran among seventh-grade students in class VII and analyze the factors influencing it. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects of this study are the seventh-grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 8 Muaro Jambi. The Quran reading activity is integrated into the learning process with the aim of improving students' competence in reading the Quran in accordance with the rules of tajwid. The data collection instruments used in this study include observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate variations in the Quran reading abilities among students. Although the routine Quran reading program has been implemented every morning, challenges are still found in the application of tajwid, makhraj, and harakat. Supporting factors for learning include the use of varied teaching methods, active roles of the teachers, and a conducive learning environment. However, there are also challenges such as students' low self-confidence, disparities in skill levels, differences in comprehension, and external factors that may hinder the learning process. In an effort to address these challenges, the school has implemented various strategies, including the tahfidz program, additional classes, and periodic evaluations. These efforts have had a positive impact on improving students' Quran reading abilities, although further improvements and strengthening of teaching strategies are still needed to achieve more optimal results
