UPAYA GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA AL-QUR’AN PADA SISWA

Abstract

This study aims to find out the efforts of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in improving the ability to read the Qur'an of grade XI students at SMAN 2 Bogor City, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the learning process of reading the Qur'an. The background of this research departs from the reality that there are still students at the high school level who are not able to read the Qur'an properly and correctly, so the active role of PAI teachers is needed in guiding and fostering students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study are PAI teachers, principals, and grade XI students. The results of the study show that PAI teachers make various efforts to improve students' Qur'an reading skills, including: the habit of reading the Qur'an before learning begins, the use of the Iqro' method, the Qur'an Reading Guidance (BBQ) program every Friday, and additional guidance outside of class hours. The supporting factors found include the support of the principal, adequate learning facilities such as mushaf and school mosques, and high teacher motivation. The inhibiting factors include limited PAI lesson time, diverse student backgrounds, lack of family roles, and lack of educators. Thus, the role of PAI teachers is very important in creating effective and adaptive learning strategies to improve students' Qur'an reading skills in public schools
