Abstract

Fiqh education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah plays a crucial role in shaping students' understanding of Islamic worship practices, including Thaharah (purification). However, theoretical approaches in learning often pose challenges for students in comprehending and applying these concepts in their daily lives. Therefore, innovative approaches are necessary to enhance students’ learning outcomes, one of which is the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This study aimed to apply the PBL model to improve Fiqh learning outcomes among fourth-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Labuhanbatu. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles through the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Test sheets were utilized as instruments to measure students’ learning outcomes, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that the PBL model effectively enhanced the Fiqh learning outcomes of fourth-grade students on the topic of Thaharah. This improvement was evident from students’ increased active engagement and better evaluation results in the second cycle. The problem-based approach motivated students to think critically, collaborate, and develop a deeper understanding of the concepts, making the learning experience more meaningful. This success was also attributed to the teacher’s role as a facilitator, continuous improvements in instructional design, and active student participation in every phase of the learning process.
